Darmstadt, August, 21, 2008 REA Mobile AG visiting the CAST workshop »Mobile Security« Mobile terminals are omnipresent, from the common USB storage stick all the way to the biometrically protected notebook. At the same time their fields of implementation in companies and authorities, but also customised for users, are broadening ever more. No matter whether as mobile data storage for schedules and customer data, as receivers of push mails or as control centres for so-called location based services, the benefit of mobile terminals can be experienced every day. The future carries further great potentials, e.g. as universal remote control in the intelligent building or as important interface in mobile health care. The mobile terminal as electronic assistant for all purposes however, also bears risks. Wherever confidential information such as person-related data is available in digital form, the attractiveness for attackers increases. Thereby typical dangers lurk both from outside, e.g. by targeted attacks of hackers and also from inside, usually favoured by carelessness, ignorance and also discontent. The CAST workshop "Mobile Security" therefore addressed itself to two aspects. On the one hand safety implications and danger potentials in typical implementation scenarios of mobile terminals were discussed. On the other hand it explained proven defence strategies and countermeasures. Dietmar Neidig, CEO of REA Mobile AG, presented a proprietary development for safe transaction business by mobile telephone based on dynamic encoding. This means that for every transaction an own certain acceptance point queried beforehand assigns a dynamic code, the validity of which can also be freely selected. Hereby a maximum of safety and protection is achieved. »A lot is already being done on the technological side in connection with the topic "mobile safety" for the mobile part, but only by the interaction between data protection and data storage also in the backend systems does a truly safe solution develop in favour of the client, as current examples of data abuse are revealing at the moment«, said Neidig.
